Shelf Life
A premium quality Refreshed Lemon Myrtle essential oil will remain stable if stored in sealed glass or stainless steel containers and refrigerated.
The accepted shelf life of Lemon Myrtle at room temperature is noted to be 3 years. However if premium Refreshed Lemon Myrtle essential oil is stored in inert glass or stainless steel containers, away from light and elevated temperatures, a shelf life of 5 years can be expected with only the very slightest loss of lemon freshness.
As with all essential oils, direct light, heat and oxygen can be detrimental to the quality and stability of Lemon Myrtle essential oil and should be avoided or minimised. Exposure to these elements will lead to a darkening of the yellow colour and a lessening of the fresh lemon aroma. Safety
All chemical substances can be safe to use if their toxicology and chemistry are known and unnecessary risks are avoided when they are used.
Because of its considerably high citral content, pure Lemon Myrtle oil is very strong and should not be applied directly to the skin. In a very diluted form however, it can be exceptionally pleasant to use.
Lemon Myrtle can be used topically up to 1% (V/V) on the skin. This has been prescribed by Australia’s TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). As Lemon Myrtle may cause skin sensitisation at higher levels care must be exercised.
We suggest adding only 1 drop to 20mL carrier oil for application to the skin. It is suggested that a patch test to a small area of skin is done and of course, should irritation occur, discontinue use. click here or above to view our sustainable journey
